Wood Floor Oiling

Maintenance for oiled engineered wood flooring falls under three categories.

General

  • Sweep or vacuum your floor as often as required.
  • Removing the dusts and fine grits that get transferred from outdoors will protect the floor from fine surface scratching and reduce soil penetration into the wood.
  • When cleaning oiled wood floors keep water levels to a minimum and avoid general all purpose cleaners. Use the recommended products from your supplier or wood floor manufacturer.
  • Food and drink spillages should be removed immediately.

Periodic

  • Maintaining levels of protection on oiled hardwood floors.

Cleaning and general wear reduces the protective oils in the wood causing the floor to appear dry. Treat the floor with an oil refresher product to prevent soil penetration to the timber.

Ensure the hardwood floor is cleaned using a recommended product and allowed to dry before the application of a liquid wax refresher.

Follow application instructions for the product.

Restoration

When oiled hardwood flooring loses its protection, soiling becomes embedded in the grain, making it appear dirty and patchy. A deep clean is required to extract the soiling before the floor can be re-oiled to restore the protection and aesthetic appeal.

Our professional non-sanding hardwood floor cleaning technique avoids the disruption and mess of sanding-based restoration.

Using controlled amounts of our specialist cleaning solution and our rotary cleaning technique, we deep-clean, capture, and extract ingrained soiling from the floor.

Once the process is complete, mechanical driers prepare the surface ready for the application of the oil.
